Years and months are like songs,rippling and rippling.
Since the successful hosting of the first China International Import Expo in Shanghai in 2018, this global economic and trade event has become a window for Sino foreign trade exchanges. In these seven years, I have witnessed how this platform connects the world and promotes the prosperity and development of global trade. At the same time, I feel honored that the CIIE has also witnessed my growth.
First Encounter at the Expo: Dreams Set Sail
Seven years ago, I was still in my third year of college. At that time, there were only countless SOURCING clients and translation services in my mind. The most impressive thing was seeing countless announcements in groups: If you want to take the translation orders for the CIIE ,you must have identification before entering. The translation company thought I didn't have any credentials, so I had to do activities outside. At that time, I didn't have a company and didn't submit any documents in advance. It suddenly started to drizzle, and I took my first photo at the subway entrance.
I really want to go in and see what's inside? However, due to traffic restrictions, I can only enter on the 10th. The translation company arranged for me to undertake the translation of the banquet for the clients participating in the CIIE. I still remember that translation event was about how Pakistanis perceive the development of Chinese chain supermarkets. Pakistani customers, upon seeing the development of numerous chain supermarkets in China, resigned from their jobs within the system and chose to open a supermarket. My Chinese guest and I listened in astonishment. On the 10th, I entered the venue for a visit and took the initiative to take photos with people from many countries. I became a Chinese who liked to punch in and out in their eyes.
Deeply involved: witnessing growth
In the following years, I participated in multiple CIIE events consecutively. In recent years, the import expo has expanded from the scope of exhibits to an increase in the number of participating countries and regions; From traditional exhibition areas such as intelligent and high-end equipment, consumer electronics and home appliances, automobiles, clothing and daily consumer goods, to newly added exhibition areas such as food and agricultural products, medical equipment and healthcare, and service trade, the CIIE continues to expand the breadth and depth of cooperation. Every time, I have witnessed its growth and progress, and I have also transformed from a translator to an exhibitor. The biggest change for me in these years is that I no longer like to be in public. However, often after several exchanges, foreign friends would take the initiative to invite me for a group photo. After a brief exchange with my colleagues at the Bahamas booth, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary received me and thoughtfully prepared a souvenir for me. The Bangladeshi leader invited me to take a photo and asked my assistant to take pictures from multiple dimensions. Indians want to give me red wine on site. At the Cuban booth, there was a simple Spanish exchange, and the exhibitor directly presented a glass of juice.
I am well aware that this change is due to the progress of my knowledge, abilities, and cultivation.
Respect and appreciation are often only present among the strong.
Full harvest: looking forward to the future
Entering the Expo, I gained the charm of language and the fun of culture. By participating in the CIIE, I not only accumulated valuable practical experience, but more importantly, I witnessed firsthand China's determination and actions in opening up to the outside world. The CIIE not only brings high-quality global goods and services to Chinese consumers, but also provides valuable opportunities for enterprises from various countries to showcase their own strength and expand the Chinese market. It has promoted the liberalization and facilitation of global trade, and propelled the recovery and growth of the world economy.
I witnessed the success of the CIIE, and the CIIE witnessed my growth in the last 7 years.
